ABOUT ME

My name is Audrey Perera and I'm a Singapore-based festival and arts producer, a writer/editor and founder of Passion & Purpose Asia.
My passion and purpose is to share unique, thought-provoking and powerful experiences with audiences, across cultures, genres and geographies. I believe in the transformative power of the arts.
My journey in producing international festivals began with WOMAD - the prestigious world music festival founded by legendary Genesis musician Peter Gabriel. It was presented for 10 years at the historic Fort Canning Park. This life-changing experience was fuelled by a desire to enable audiences to experience new cultures and new forms of music and dance and break through barriers.
This prepared me for other festivals that followed, including The Ultimate Tribute Concert; Made in Singapore! (in collaboration with Esplanade Theatres by the Bay); and Play It Back! a (National Arts Council-commissioned) heritage-themed music festival.
My early forays into large-scale festival and event production would prepare me to helm what would be my biggest challenge - creating and directing the True Colors Festival (TCF) in 2018. Held in Singapore and jointly presented by The Nippon Foundation & UNESCO, it presented more than 200 artists with disabilities from 20 countries over a weekend designed around the theme "See ability. Respect Talent". The festival was attended by over 10,000 people.
The success of the festival led to my engagement as Executive Director for TCF events that followed, including LIVE and hybrid programming during the COVID-19 years. The journey continued and culminated with THE CONCERT 2022 in November 2022 Tokyo: a live and livestreamed global concert featuring special guest Katy Perry and more than 20 diverse groups and soloists from 13 countries.
